The Floating Rabbits Cinnamon/Sienna - Large Wool & Silk
This design draws heavily from Edo-period Japanese arts and culture. It features black-tailed jackrabbits in the corners, with a third hanging from a lantern. The rabbits wear miniature kawari kabuto helmets, inspired by historical artifacts. The central jackrabbit sports a tasselled cloth with a samurai crest, and the lantern is marked with “rabbit.” Traditional paper lanterns and a trellis-style partition add to the antique woodblock print feel. The background includes a grassy hillside with white rabbits, silver reeds, and a glowing moon. Borders are adorned with lacquered menuki (carved sword grips) and a woven pattern resembling samurai sword handles, edged with striped flagpole and rope. Japanese hand-script details and a haiku by Sabina Savage complete the design. The haiku reads:

Silently, at dusk,
A hare is flying over
A hundred rabbits
