Meet the Brand
Ailanto takes its name from the fabled “tree of heaven,” a symbol of rare beauty and quiet strength, an apt emblem for the vision of twin creators Iñaki Muñoz and Aitor Muñoz. Since its founding in 1995, the house has cultivated a singular identity defined by poetic prints, meticulous craftsmanship, and an uncompromising devotion to the finest materials.
Educated at the University of Barcelona, the brothers bring a dual sensibility to their work. Iñaki’s refined training in fashion design intertwines with Aitor’s deep knowledge of landscaping and botany. This dialogue between garment and garden, silhouette and nature, forms the essence of Ailanto’s aesthetic language.
Each collection unfolds as a living canvas, inspired by the romanticism and expressive depth of nineteenth and twentieth century artistic movements. Echoes of painters and sculptors resonate through every piece, transforming fabric into narrative.
At the heart of Ailanto lies an artisanal creative process. It begins with the creation of prints, hand rendered through collage, tempera, watercolor, and oil painting, each imbued with texture, color, and emotion. These works of art are then translated into garments, where form and volume emerge organically, allowing each design to evolve with sculptural grace. The result is a world where fashion transcends function and becomes an intimate expression of art itself.
You would like this designer if you…are an art-minded individuals who value craftsmanship and individuality, choosing refined, expressive fashion that rises above trends and reflects a cultivated sense of style.
